Million Air Medford: Fire Season Preparedness 2015
Upgrades to Company’s Fuel Capabilities to be Revealed

MEDFORD, OR—On Monday, June 15th, Million Air Medford will host a “press only” event at the Rogue Valley International Airport, titled “Fire Season Preparedness 2015.” The event begins at 1:30pm and will be accessible from a private access road off Schultz Road in Central Point. (Look for directional signage)

As the airport’s sole fuel provider for private, business, and commercial aviation, Million Air’s strategy was to upgrade and expand their fueling capabilities for the 2015 fire season. According to President Joe Keith, Million Air staff has spent the majority of the off-season engaged in multiple upgrades. “Our team has worked diligently to make improvements that are necessary for the busy fire season projected for 2015,” he said. “We have focused on both our onsite fuel tanks and fuel trucks so that pilots will have easier access to fuel, and have the necessary amount of fuel, to fight fires during high-demand times.”

Upgrades include Million Air’s addition of a 40,000 gallon, double-wall, fire-rated, above-ground, fuel storage tank which increases airport Jet-A fuel capacity to 100,000 gallons at this location. In addition, the conversion of an existing 15,000 gallon storage tank from Jet-A fuel to 100LL (AVGAS) increases Million Air’s 100LL capacity from 20,000 gallons to 35,000 gallons. Million Air has also purchased another 5,000 gallon Jet-A fuel truck and made major upgrades to their existing fuel trucks. Big Bertha, used to fuel fire bombers, scoopers, and P2Vs with 100LL, also underwent significant improvements including new paint, new cab and other mechanical upgrades. “Bertha will be a favorite of bomber crews for years to come, she is definitely a “looker!” Keith noted. With the upgraded technology in all of Million Air’s fuel trucks, both Jet-A and 100LL customers will be provided with instant and accurate fueling reports.
